The heater core in your car is a miniature radiator that efficiently recycles excess heat from the engine to warm up the cabin. Hot coolant carries thermal energy away from the engine, and it flows through the heater core where a ventilation fan can circulate the warmth through the passenger compartment.
Your heater core may need to be repaired or replaced if your car fogs up rapidly as soon as you start the engine, or if fluid is leaking out onto the front passenger side floor mat from under the dashboard. Watch this video for more help identifying signs of heater core failure.
